Only journalists or major networks that the team trusts are being granted interviews or able to grab sound bites. And those are mainly because they are required to do so with media obligation requirements.
The “Hard Knocks” series could be in serious jeopardy since teams aren’t required to participate. Every team in the NFL has taken notice after the Saints suspensions that anyone is fair game for punishments the NFL deems necessary.
With cameras and microphones posted everywhere, teams may be paranoid that the devices will catch something being done or said that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell could rain down firey justice on.
Ironically, the Saints have been in consideration the past three seasons filmed, to which they always declined. The last time the show aired was before the lockout last year and featured the New York Jets.
It was the most entertaining of the previous shows and up until a few weeks ago, they were thought to be a major contender for a second run. It looks like now though that the Jets aren’t interested.
