Free agent cornerback Drayton Florence should warrant a look from the New Orleans Saints

Still it wouldn’t hurt the Saints to look at Florence based on his play and also his experience.  The Saints have had a few free agent cornerbacks in for workouts but haven’t signed any yet.

2012 fifth round pick Corey White will also be added to the secondary as a cornerback, but it’s unlikely he’ll get a start at the position unless he just has a phenomenal training camp.

The market for cornerbacks is very slim right now.   In fact much like for defensive ends, which the Saints could also use, it’s almost non-existent.

The Saints had brought in Tampa Bay Buccaneers free agent cornerback Elbert Mack for a workout, but didn’t sign him.  Mack is about only a few meager prospects left in the cornerback free agency.

This is why if the Saints are serious about bringing in a cornerback for a low base salary, then Florence is their best candidate and should get him before another team does.

I like the idea of bring in a veteran CB.. but only at the right $…. because I’m pretty high on Johnny Patrick.  And Corey White will have to make some sort of transition in the pro game, like all rookie DB’s do.
Also remember we have that S who started for Arkansas… he is a little small ( 5-9″ I believe, which is probably why he went undrafted), but a good buddy who follows the Razorbacks told me, “He’s very smart and good in coverage”.
All-in-all, I’m looking forward to seeing these rookies go at it in pre-season!!!
