New Orleans Saints select tackle Marcel Jones with their seventh round pick

The New Orleans Saints have selected Nebraska tackle Marcel Jones with the 234th pick in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Jones was a starter at Nebraska and according to several sites, the thought is he could eventually play at left tackle in the NFL.  He’ll likely start off slow maybe even on second team or at right tackle.

He is said to be very good at protection in the passing game as well as a good run blocker.  While he dominates defensive ends, scouts say he has trouble with speedy linebackers.

One big flag for Jones was durability issues.  Injuries caused Jones to miss a large portion of his 2010 season and was still dealing with them in the 2011 season.
