This time the 49ers travel to the ‘Big Easy’ to test their metal against the Saints revamped line backing core, and newly appointed defensive coordinator Steve Spagnulo.

With our new scheme, I don’t expect to see Spagnulo throw the kitchen sink at Alex Smith every down, giving our secondary  more help in coverage.

This is what Gregg Williams should have done in the first game,  and maybe Vernon Davis wouldn’t have had the entire field to himself.

Not to take anything away from Vernon Davis, he’s a great player, but how he got so open that late in the game is just unacceptable.

Alex Smith, yeah that guy, threw for 299 yards and 3 touchdowns, with Vernon Davis catching two of the touchdown passes and 180 yards receiving.
