New Orleans Saints increase cap number; re-sign kicker John Kasay

The cap may be adjusted again since the Saints announced yesterday that they have re-signed kicker John Kasay.  Kasay filled in for kicker Garrett Hartley last season after he was injured in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers.

Kasay was a solid replacement and completed 28 of 34 field goals las t season.  It may have some fans wondering that if Hartley is back, then why is Kasay being re-signed?

It’s probably just for competitive purposes and not the Saints are planning on getting rid of Hartley.  Kasay was only signed to a one-year contract and may be released if the Saints see that Hartley is back to his old form.

Or the Saints may not want to let go of him just in case something similar happens to Hartley again and are simply being cautious.

This is a good move. Garrett is kind of fragile. With Kasay at near 85% in kicking this is a good move.

@LI Saint ; I agree because Garrett was out most of the season last year, Kasay has more experience and time in.
