Not having Drew Brees at workouts on Monday won't hurt the New Orleans Saints

Now, you have to be in shape just coming into organized team activities, mini-camps, and training camps in order to perform at the speed and the level that is expected of a player.

At best for two weeks, Brees would be throwing to his receivers and getting each other used to their rhythm.  Backup quarterback Chase Daniels is no Brees but he can slowly bring the receivers along till #9 gets there.

With no defense, pads, or even helmets allowed, it’s simply the players getting used to the conditions, practice fields, and the very facilities that they will be using.  That’s one heck of a free gym membership!

In the end, what’s important is that players are there and are putting the effort in.  As far as Brees being there, owner Tom Benson eluded to the notion today that a deal is close to being done.

So for people worried about the impact the absence of Brees will have on this upcoming Monday, I wouldn’t.  These guys are professionals and is why they earn millions of dollars.  Or in Brees’ case, hundreds of millions.
