But on the same token, don’t count Vilma out in New Orleans either.  Loomis stated that Vilma is “still a big part of our team.”  Just how big a part will remain to be seen.

Vilma could still play the middle position after his suspension and Lofton move to the strongside linebacker spot.  Speculation is Vilma could move to strongside but that just doesn’t make too much sense.

The Saints may deem that it’s simply time for a change and wipe the slate clean with releasing Vilma.  It certainly appears that current defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is putting some  fresh faces into his plans and Vilma may not be part of them.
