The New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN’s John Clayton, have resigned wide receiver Marques Colston to a five-year deal to remain with the team.
Clayton reports the total value of the deal is almost $40-million, with $19 million guaranteed.
Thats great news, but it still leaves another big name player sitting out there.
The Saints are also trying to re-sign All-Pro guard Carl Nicks, who the Saints reportedly made an offer to on Monday night.
If Nicks doesn’t sign’s it by 4 p.m ET today, he will become a free agent and the Saints will more than likely lose him.
New Orleans will likely have to release some players (maybe even linebacker Jonathan Vilma) to free up more salary-cap space to get both players back into the fold.
