According to Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger, the New York Giants are set to release running back Brandon Jacobs.

Garafolo reports that the team and Jacobs couldn’t agree on a new deal so the team will release the veteran.  Jacobs was set to collect a $500,000 roster bonus as well as $4.4 million in base salary.

Jacobs has had issues along the way for the past several seasons and speculation was he wouldn’t be brought back for this past year.  Jacobs would win one more Super Bowl ring with the Giants after defeating the New England Patriots in Februaury.

A standout running back at Assumption High, Jacobs will try to find another home when free agency starts on Tuesday.  At 30 years old, Jacobs still has some fuel in his tank and will most likely find a team quickly.
