Williams defensive schemes aren’t having the same effect that they did in 2009, but the Saints defense has been doing the “bend but don’t break” rule. One series they are torched for a quick score, the next they are an unbreakable force field.
I think depending on how the postseason turns out for the Saints will determine what Williams does or what the Saints want to do with him. If either or both parties feels that their work is done with each other, Williams could walk or the Saints would let him go.
If Williams does leave, then the Saints would need to do an extensive manhunt for just the right person. The defense hasn’t seen this much positive play since I can remember and fans will be outraged to see it go in reverse.
