Former LSU player joins New Orleans Saints practice squad

Lost in the shuffle of announcements that New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram was placed on injured reserve as well as LB Will Herring, was that a former LSU player has joined the practice squad.

Former LSU Linebacker Darry Beckwith was signed to the practice squad early in the week.  Beckwith takes the spot of LB Nate Bussey who was promoted off the practice squad to the active roster after Herring went to IR.

Beckwith was a member of the LSU 2007 National Championship team and was projected as a second round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.  Beckwith went undrafted however and was signed by the San Diego Chargers where he was waived before the season began.

Beckwith would be signed to the Chargers practice squad where he would spend two seasons.  He was also a member of the Indianapolis Colts for a day when he signed with them on August 1, 2011 and was waived on August 2.
