That’s one question that has been asked ever since the New Orleans Saints were set to go to the playoffs. The chances aren’t slim, but not easy either.
I guess Jim Carrey said it best in the movie “Dumb & Dumber” when the woman of his dreams said they had a one in a million chance of being together: “So you’re telling me there’s a chance?” Yes my Who Dat’s there is, but the “wild cards” (pun intended) will need to fall just right.
Starting off is the first Wild Card round of the playoffs. The Saints(#3 seed) will host the Detroit Lions(#5 seed) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. CT. The first domino to fall would be for the Saints to defeat the Lions. If that doesn’t happen, conversation is over.
If the Saints do win on Saturday, then they will advance to the NFC Divisional round and travel to face the San Francisco 49ers(#2 seed). This is where the formula can come together or fall apart. Once again, the Saints lose to the 49ers and they’re done.
With a victory over the 49ers, the Saints could possibly host the NFC Championship. But before that happens, more dominos need to tumble. One big one is the Green Bay Packers, but more on them in just a second. Let’s start with the other “wild cards” first.
Playing one day after the Saints and Lions will be the Atlanta Falcons(#6 seed) and New York Giants(#4 seed). The Falcons will travel to New York and face the Giants on their home turf at 12:00 p.m. CT. Whoever wins will travel to face the Green Bay Packers(#1 seed).
