Fresh off Sean Payton’s regular Wednesday injury reports all signs are pointing up for a healthy New Orleans Saints team as only three players missed practice today with only minor injuries.
Linebackers Jonathan Vilma and Jonathan Casillas did not practice, and running back Mark Ingram continues to be held out while he recovers from a mild case of turf toe.
Vilma is being held out as strictly a precautionary measure after under going arthroscopic knee surgery a month ago.
Casillas missed last weeks game against the Titans with a sore knee, and may not be able to return to practice in time to face the Vikings this Sunday.
New Orleans is loaded with healthy running backs so it only makes sense that they choose to rest Ingram especially considering the team has already secured a playoff berth.
Defensive end Turk McBride, one of the Saints sack leaders, has missed the last few weeks with a sprained ankle but did return to practice in a limited capacity today.
Also injured are defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis (hamstring), cornerback Tracy Porter (wrist), tight end Jimmy Graham (back), and linebacker Scott Shanle (shoulder).
All practiced in full and are not expected to miss any playing time.
Looking back over recent seasons this may be the healthiest the Saints have been this late in the season.
Last year they ran low on running backs entering the playoffs, and also had a number of injuries in the secondary.
