Week 14 in the NFC South will be important for the New Orleans Saints as well the Atlanta Falcons. Both will be looking to the Carolina Panthers for some help in the playoffs.
New Orleans Saints vs. Tennessee Titans: The Saints(9-3) will be playing at Tennessee in the brisk outdoors today. The Saints are on a roll but so is Titans RB Chris Johnson. The Saints have mentioned him in just about every press conference as a threat. Of course, QB Matt Hasselbeck is on their radar as well.
If the Saints play sound football today with gap discipline and swarm to Johnson when he has the football, they should do well. The word “trap game” has come up several times but the fact is Tennessee is playing for a wild card spot right now in the AFC. If the Saints win, it will be one piece of the puzzle towards the playoffs as well.
They would need to win with a loss by the Atlanta Falcons to clinch the division. Or Saints win with a loss by either Detroit Lions or Chicago Bears for a Wild Card playoff spot.
My pick for the winner: New Orleans Saints
Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers: Any other time I think the Falcons(7-5) would be a lock. Yet the Panthers(4-8), will be at home and on a tiny hot hand with their defeaat of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. While I don’t think it will be a total blow out, it the Panthers I feel should put up a good fight.
