Is New Orleans Saints DE Turk McBride headed to injured reserve?

The only concern would be that McBride has missed a fair amount of time, so if the Saints were to activate him back into the starting roster, how effective will he be?  Of course, LB Jonathan Vilma made a similar return from knee surgery and missed close to the same amount of time.

The Saints might be saving McBride for the playoffs just in case they were to have an injury along the defensive line.  They had a nightmare last year trying to fill in at running back after numerous injuries.  No need to press Lady Luck in this department.

The second door McBride could be walking through is to injured reserve.  McBride has been bothered by this same injury a few times early in the season, but not this long.  The Saints may just be waiting to see after a few more games where they stand in the playoffs to make a decision.

Gregg Williams has been seen for a good part of the season refreshing his defensive lineman almost every other play.  If they choose to do so, McBride could be injured reserve to sign someone to his spot that would fit right in the rotation.  One who comes to mind is a player who developed a cult following during preseason, DL Mitch King a.k.a. “Mama’s Boy”.
