On a bit of information that didn’t make big headlines, the Saints worked out free agent tight end Mickey Shuler, Jr.  Shuler was a 2010 seventh round draft pick for the Minnesota Vikings out of Penn State.

Shuler was cut after the second week and claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins where he remained for the rest of the season.  He was released on September 3, 2011 and claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals.

However, Shuler failed his physical and became a free agent.  He only has two receptions for 44 yards in his career and would be brought in primarily as a blocker to replace Dave Thomas who was placed on injured reserve.  Shuler wasn’t signed after the workout.
