Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings:  The Panthers pulled off a good victory Sunday against the Washington Redskins and the Vikings were a touchdown away from victory against the Green Bay Packers.

This Sunday, two rookie quarterbacks who were scrutinized in preseason will face off with Cam Newton for the Panthers and Christian Ponder for the Vikings.  Both have shown that they deserve a chance for their franchises.

The Panthers secondary will need to keep their heads on a swivel because Ponder has shown that if he gets time, he can deliver the ball accurate and fast.  Though Ponder had some hiccups and jitters against the Packers, he should improve some for this week.

We all know about Newton’s gameplay and the Vikings surely do too.  If the Vikings can’t contain Newton, they will have a long day ahead of them with his arm, legs, and offensive weapons that are available.  Vikings RB Adrian Peterson and WR Percy Harvin will need to show up for Ponder to help his success grow.

Although the Vikings had a strong game against the Packers last week, they must travel to Carolina who will try to get the home crowd into it and create a hostile environment.  This could be the rally point for the struggling Panthers to claw their way up and reach 3-5.

My pick for this game:  Carolina Panthers.
