Could New Orleans Saints LB Will Herring be headed to injured reserve?

The Saints are pretty tight when it comes to information on injuries but I’m getting the suspicion that Herring is headed to injured reserve if things do not improve.

They are thin at linebacker as it is and Jonathan Vilma has been a frequent addition to the injury reports lately with knee issues  (look for an offseason surgery WDD readers).  Another injury would only further deplete the position.

Third round draft pick Martez Wilson has actually been inserted in at linebacker and also on special teams.  With Herring’s absence, the rookie has had to catch on fast.

Herring has only registered three tackles at his position so far this season.  I would think the Saints will wait only a few weeks at the most before a decision is made to move Herring to injured reserve if his hamstring issue doesn’t improve.
