After a Thursday practice report, New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton gave encouraging news about some key players.
Payton informed the media that LB Jonathan Vilma, who has not practiced in close to a week, was limited today in practice. Vilma has been nursing a knee injury since the game against the Chicago Bears in Week 2.
DL Shaun Rogers(right elbow) and LB Jonathan Casillias(foot) were also listed as limited. There didn’t seem to be a big concern with them however and should be good for the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday.
WR Marques Colston was listed as limited in practice but Payton confirmed that he would be activated for Sunday, but not have a high number of snaps. Payton also stated that Colston was “on schedule” and “things have gone well.”
Players that didn’t practice were LB Martez Wilson(shoulder), Zach Streif(knee), Olin Kreutz(knee), LB Will Herring(hamstring), and TE David Thomas(concussion).
Streif was feared to have a torn ACL, but Payton said that was not the case. He further stated that if he had torn the ACL, Strief would have been placed on Injured Reserve.
