New Orleans Saints fans still tracking free agency can now mark LB Marvin Mitchell off of the teams roster according to a recently released report.
Aaron Wilson of Scout.com is reporting that Mitchell has signed with the Miami Dolphins this evening. Mitchell has not been a priority to re-sign for the Saints since free agency began.
Mitchell has served primarily as a back up at the linebacker position for the Saints since being drafted out of Tennessee in the 7th round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
Considering the depth at Saints training camp at linebacker, it’s not a surprise that Mitchell wasn’t brought back. Incoming rookie linebackers Martez Wilson and Nate Bussey have been showing great strides at the position.
According to ESPN, Mitchell had 43 tackles, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries last season.
