In a recent article I wrote, New Orleans Saints Have Depth At Linebacker; Thin At Wide Receiver, I discussed the large size of the linebacker group at training camp for the New Orleans Saints. Now it appears, according to reports, that number is down one.
According to reporter James Varney of The Times-Picayune, the Saints have released LB Danny Clark. Saints punter Thomas Morestead also tweeted shortly after, “Sad to see @dannyclark55 leave“.
Clark, who spent all of last season with Saints at strong side linebacker, started camp running with the first team defense. Then according to reports, he went to third team defense.
Varney also reported, to replace Clark on the roster, the Saints signed OT Jordan Black. Black was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2003 and then went to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2008 where he has been a back up tackle.
There will probably be an official word on the transactions at around 6:45 p.m. CST when Head Coach Sean Payton gives his post practice press conference.
