With the New Orleans Saints only days away from their first preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, they seem to have a nice sized group at the linebacker position. The depth at wide receiver though is raising some eyebrows.
In an attempt to bolster the front seven, it appears the Saints have welcomed in potential linebacker candidates. The Saints managed to keep several core players at the position as well.
Jonathan Vilma, Scott Shanle, Danny Clark, Jo-Lonn Dunbar, Jonathan Casillas, Ramon Humber, and Clint Ingram were on the Saints roster last year. Yet only Vilma, Shanle, Clark, and Dunbar saw any significant playing time.
Casillas was injured in preseason last year and lost for the entire season. Humber was only on the roster for a few games at the end of the season and never really saw any action.
Ingram was immediately on the Physicaly Unable to Perform(PUP) list at the beginning of last season while he was rehabbing a knee injury. He was later cut in October without ever getting off of the PUP list.
