The New Orleans Saints gained back a reliable player and may have possibly lost another during the past hour according to some recent Twitter activity.
NFL Network’s JasonLaCanfora tweeted about an hour ago that the Saints had re-signed CB Leigh Torrence. Torrence has been great on special teams. but also fills in nicely at cornerback when asked.
Torrence was released soon after last season started but wasn’t gone long. Torrence was brought back onto the roster prior to the Halloween night game against the Pittsburgh Steelers last year.
Torrence played lights out and even intercepted Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger at the end of the game.
About the same time that it was announced that Torrence was re-signing by LaCanfora, Saints DT Remi Ayodele tweeted, “Been a fun ride NOLA!!!” This is leading to unconfirmed reports that Ayodele may be signaling his departure from the Saints.
Ayodele has been a stand out player for the Saints on the defensive line and operates under the radar while doing his job. Ayodele had a breakout season during the Saints Superbowl run and remained consistent last year. With the depth currently at defensive tackle, he may have unfortunately been found expendable.
