While teams are starting to come together to get business handled, the Baltimore Ravens aren’t wasting anytime in making upcoming roster changes.
In a report filed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, The Ravens have informed RB Willis McGahee that they will release him when the team is allowed to due so.
While this may seem sudden and cold, it’s actually to McGahee’s benefit so he can get with his agent and find some possible interest in free agency. McGahee has primarily been used in short-yardage plays.
RB Ray Rice has been a staple in the Ravens backfield and garners the majority of carries. FB Le’Ron McClain could also see an increase in carries.
The only new addition to the running back roster for certain, as of now, is rookie RB Anthony Allen. Allen was recently drafted in the seventh round out of Georgia Tech.
UPDATE: National Football Post confirmed MaGahee’s release and also reported the Ravens released veterans G Kelly Gregg and TE Todd Heap.
