Fans have been waiting for tidbits of good news throughout the week in regards to progress on the NFL lockout, and it may have happened just a few hours ago.

Everyone fully expected talks to end over the 4th of July holiday weekend, and not resume until Tuesday at the earliest.  However, it seems that work is still being done this week to bring the lockout to a close.

NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello tweeted a little after 1:00 p.m. CST on July 2 that “lawyers are drafting language for a potential agreement”.  He also stated that “all kinds of phone, email exchanges going on and work continues”.

A few hours later Aiello tweeted that we should relax and that this has been going on for a while.  “Part of the process”, he tweeted, “Point is work continues over the weekend”.

While this doesn’t seem like much, the ball is for sure rolling and in the right direction.  This is a vast change from a few months ago when both sides were only meeting sporadically during the week.  When both sides did meet, it was for only for a few meager hours.
