Saints Center Jonathan Goodwin Confirms Mark Ingram Not At Workout

Center Jonathan Goodwin confirmed to WIST-AM (The Sports Hangover) that running back Mark Ingram was not in attendance today at the teams organized workouts as originally reported. Earlier today quarterback Drew Brees confirmed that Ingram would be present tweeting that he “looked forward to seeing the young buck in action.”

Ingram himself also seemed to imply he was ready to join his New Orleans Saints team mates tweeting “Time to put in this work!!! Lets get it!! #GrindTime” earlier today. His reason for not attending is not known, although it’s not likely a concern for Brees, Ingram or any of his team mates.

Reggie Bush has been heavily criticized as of late for not being involved with the workouts, afterwards tweeting how happy he is with the lockout as he has had more time for appearances, delighting in the fact of not having to practice in the New Orleans heat and humidity.

It’s too bad Ingram was not attendanc0,e as it seemed like his teammates, including Brees himself, were anxious to get a look at the man the Saints traded back into the first round to acquire. Hopefully he will make an appearance sooner rather than later.

Currently the Saints are practicing three times a week — running, lifting and even yoga — but eventually plan on moving into positional drills and 7-on-7 scrimmages. Others teams are following the trend and have begun to organize workouts on their own, although the Saints turn out is by far the largest thus far.

It’s not hopeful there will be any resolution on the lockout unil next month, when the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals will decide whether or not to award the NFL a permanet stay on Judge Susan Nelson’s ruling that awarded the players an injunction to block the lockout for about a day.
