Saints Linebacker Martez Wilson Clocked The Fastest Time At The Combine (Source: espn.go.com)

New Orleans Saints 2011 Draft Very Good, Time Will Tell If It's Great

Going into this years draft, the saints needed help and depth in a few areas. No position more than DE in my opinion just a nod underneath that was OLB.

I’d cringe when I’d hear the saints should draft a running back with their first pick. And their were many people out their who believed that whole-heartedly (Keith – Editor)

Well it turned out that we all got what we wanted. The Saints drafted Cameron Jordan
out of California with the 24th pick in the draft.

Reports were he was on their top 4 board and Loomis and Company even considered trading up to get him If they absolutely had to do so.

Jordan is the son of Vikings 6-time Pro Bowl tight end Steve Jordan. So he knows to an
extinct what’s it takes to play in the NFL.

I had heard since the end of the season that Sean Payton really liked Alabama RB Mark Ingram.

Well, much to my shock that was very apparent after Thursday night’s 1st round. I wasn’t shocked that Peyton was high on him, was just shocked they made the move.

Ingram is a workhorse running back. He won the Heisman trophy in 2009 and led Alabama to the national championship.

I keep thinking about how hard of a time defenses will have stopping Ingram, Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory, and Reggie Bush who may or may not figure into the equation as well.

With all the talk of whether he’s staying or going I believe when it’s all settled, Sean Payton wants Reggie Bush to be a saint and he will stay. I could be wrong and hopefully I’m not but that’s just my personal opinion.

One of the Saints 3rd round picks they drafted outside linebacker Martez Wilson of Illinois. He was timed as the fastest linebacker at the combine.

Mos think he will be one of the Saints starting linebackers this upcoming season.

The Saints also may have found a diamond in the rough in the seventh round once again with Pittsburgh defensive end Greg Romeus. He was once considered a first round prospect but back and knee injuries forced him to miss most of jh

All in all the Saints graded very high in the draft. This is already is a good sign for a SuperBowl contender. Only time will tell.
