The draft is a little over a month away now, but it’s not commanding the headlines as it does in usual fashion, those are instead hogged by the ongoing battle between the NFL and the players regarding the formation of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
However when April rolls around the draft will commence all the same regardless of the state of the current NFL lockout.
Rumor has it the NFLPA has contacted the marquee college players in this years draft and asked them not to attend, a move to signify the unity of current and future NFL players.
For the Saints though it’s business as usual as they tend to their off-season priorities in the same manner as they would if no lockout was in place.
Quarterback Drew Brees has also vowed to keep the team working together in make shift mini-camps at parks or facilities that are willing to open their doors.
New Orleans has five total picks in this years draft, four of those coming in the top 100 players available. The Sains have a chance to pick four impact players to improve the team and most will tell you that improvement needs to come on the defensive side of the ball.
The Saints however like to buck tradition, instead choosing more often then not to take the best player available regardless of need. This mock will stick to that philosophy and ignore need in favor of player ranking.
