27) ATLANTA FALCONS 12-4
J.J. Watt- DE- Wisconsin
Playing in the same division as the Saints is not a good thing, especially when you have a weak pass rush. John Abraham had one of his best seasons in recent memory but the Falcons didn’t get much production from the other side of their defensive line. J.J. Watt, one of the better young pass rushers in the draft is here for Atlanta when he should have gone higher.
28) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 14-2
Justin Houston- OLB/DE- Georgia
New England really needs that big time pass rusher which has been absence in their lineup since they traded Richard Seymour a few seasons ago. Houston is a terrific pass rusher and will be able to step in day one and help the Patriots get those elusive sacks totals higher.
29) CHICAGO BEARS 11-5
Mike Pouncey- OG/C- Florida
After pundits claimed that the Bears didn’t have the receiver’s or offensive line in place to make the post season, but they proceeded to put together a winning season and secured a NFC North title. However Green Bay came into town once more and was able to best their NFC North rival en route to the Super Bowl. Chicago’s offensive line was a complete disaster at the start of the season but great improvements were made towards the end of the year. That doesn’t mean they don’t still need help and I think Mike Pouncey, who is versatile enough to play center and left tackle, is taken here to rebuild their offensive line.
30) NEW YORK JETS 11-5
Torrey Smith- WR- Maryland
Three Jets free agent receivers have been offered tenders – Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards andBrad Smith. They will attempt to sign them back but with free agency you never know. Torrey Smith is record-breaking receiver andkick returner for a university famous for producing athletic phenoms, Smith will enter the NFL as one of the more intriguing big-play specialists andshould the Jets part ways withBrad Smith he will be a great fit as a return man for the Jets.
31) PITTSBURG STEELERS 12-4
Ras-l Dowling- CB Virginia
There is no doubt that the Steelers need to improve the quality of their secondary. It is also widely known that Ike Taylor is a free agent to be the Steelers usually never decide to pay to stay. Furthermore, William Gay and Bryant McFadden cannot be No. 1 and No. 2 corners simply due to lack of talent. Dowling’s stock has been rising and is the perfect size for an NFL corner back at 6’2″, 200 pounds.
32) GREEN BAY PACKERS 10-6
Rodney Hudson-OG- Florida State
Although Rodney Hudson lacks great size, he has the playing strength and athletic ability to be successful as either a guard or center in the NFL. If he can add another 10-15 pounds without losing his quickness, he has the potential to develop into an elite interior lineman. He’s solid as both a pass and run blocker, and could step into a starting role as a rookie. The Packers have a number of different needs including DE, OL and OLB. But most of the number one guys at those positions will be gone by the 32nd pick.
