New Orleans Saints Need To Retain Tight End David Thomas

There are few players that will need to restructure their contract if they want to continue their career in New Orleans, which includes players such as Reggie Bush, wide-out Devery Henderson and the before mentioned Randall Gay.

Most Saints fans would like to think that all Saints restricted and unrestricted players will be back once the NFLPA and the owners agree on a new CBA, but that’s unrealistic because some guys will still want to test the open  market.

All the players listed here I feel the Saints need to resign and bring back. Wide-out Lance Moore, Center Jonathan Goodwin, fullback Heath Evens, defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove, defensive tackle/end Jimmy Wilkerson, Safety Pierson Prioeau, Offensive tackle Zach Strief, Wide-out/Kick returner Courtney Roby, Left Tackle Jermon Bushrod, Defensive end Jeff Charleston, Safety Chris Reis, Guard Carl Nicks, Kicker Garrett Hartley and Linebacker Jo-Lon Dunbar.

I’m not ruling out bringing back Safeties Roman Harper and Darren Sharper unless the Saints can bring in and sign Safety Bob Sanders, that move will allow the Saints to let one of them go.

Possibly the Saints will bring in and try out a few veteran players from outside of the Saints organization like they did with Shaun Rogers. A player like Rogers is only a short term fix, even though he’s up there in age, he should be able to provide the Saints time to develop their rookies from this years draft.
