Free safety Darren Sharper is slated to start against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a pivotal prime time game tonight. Sharper underwent micro-fracture knee surgery in the off-season landing him on the PUP list prior to the start of the regular season. He was reinstated to the active roster last week before the Cleveland Browns game.
The defending Super Bowl champion Saints (4-3) will play host to last seasons defending champs the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-1) this Sunday night at the Superdome in a nationally televised contest. For the Saints the contest is much more than a potential win/loss on their record it’s a chance to get back on track after a disastrous loss to the Cleveland Browns (1-5) last week and prove they are still a contender to repeat as champ.
Former Saints’ running back Deuce McAllister has faith that the struggling Saints will be able to get it together in time to make a playoff run. The team will be fine. They just have to try to get better every week. Its not an easy ride but they knew it would not be. They have the right leaders in place and will be getting some guys back soon, he says. He thinks the running game will be okay, with Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas out, it was apparent that the Saints would struggle running the ball but he likes the [...]
The Saints season is on the verge of becoming a complete bust not even one year removed from their first ever Super Bowl title and their winning-est season in franchise history. All signs pointed to a successful season in 2010 after head coach Sean Payton managed to keep the bulk if his team in place, but after a laundry list of issues the Saints are now 4-3 entering into a tough two game stretch that will see them face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers before their week 10 bye.
New Orleans Saints: Worries Abound After 4-3 Start
Cleveland Browns’ head coach Eric Mangini’s game plan might as well as simply read, “Trick-or-(get)beat.” The Browns, with a real team effort, and a little trickery beat the defending Super Bowl champion Saints by a final score of 30-17, just one point shy of the Saints’ margin of victory over the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.
New Orleans Saints Let Another Game Slip Away
Well maybe slip away is not the best way to describe the Saints 30-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns today as that implies the game was in hand but slowly got away from the defending Super Bowl champs. In fact the better way to describe it is the Saints let another game get ripped away from them as the Browns defense was able to rip the ball out of the air and out of players hands including probably the most shocking stat of the contest, four interceptions o.f Saints pro bowl quarterback Drew Brees.
Monkey brains and fresh cow pies, Fangs of snakes and hoot owl eyes, Tails of lizards and an anteater’s nose, Hair off a coon and an old dogs toes, All these things I’m using to bust a spell, For the Cleveland Browns things won’t go well, I snatched me a collar off a big mangy mutt, Now on the Dog Pound we will kick some butt,
All indications are that Saints running back Pierre Thomas will miss his fourth consecutive game this Sunday after suffering an apparent nasty ankle injury late in week three’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. The injury was originally reported as an ankle sprain, not the dreaded high, with an expected recovery time of 1 to 2 weeks but the ankle has not responded as the team originally hoped extending that recovery time to somewhere between 4 to 6 weeks.
Corner back Randall Gay’s season is over after the team placed on him on injured reserve today with lingering post concussion symptoms weeks after he was originally concussed in week two’s win over the San Francisco 49ers. Gay joined the Saints in free agency prior to the 2008 season agreeing to a four-year 17.8 million contract. Although he lead the team in passes defensed with 15 while starting 13 games for the Saints that season he eventually became the top nickel back once the team drafted Tracy Porter and acquired Jabari Greer.
New Orleans Saints Sever Ties With LB Clint Ingram
Linebacker Clint Ingram has been released before ever getting a chance to practice with the team in his first day of eligibility to do so after being removed from the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP). Ingram has missed the last six weeks while still recovering from micro-fracture knee surgery he underwent in April stemming from an injury he suffered while still a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
