Running Back Reggie Bush May Have Significant Right Leg Injury

Saints running back Reggie Bush injured his right leg while fielding a punt in the fourth quarter of the teams 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Bush muffed the point among fierce wins and dived to recover the ball when a 49er defender rolled his right leg at a very awkward angle.

He returned to his feet briefly but quickly collapsed in obvious pain before being carried off the field. A brief examination was administered on the sideline before he was carted away, he of course did not return to the game.

Before the injury Bush had rushed for for four yards on five carries but did have a six yard touchdown reception in the Saints opening drive to put the team ahead 7-0.

No information has been given yet to the severity of the injury but as of now the outlook looks bleak given the reaction of Bush and his teammates when he was taken off the field.

If Bush is in line to miss significant playing time, or even worse is out for the season, the Saints will look to free agent addition DeShawn Wynn to take over in his place.

Wynn was signed late this off-season after promising young running back P.J. HIll was lost for the season with an injury suffered during the Saints second preseason game.

Rookie running back Chris Ivory will also be in the mix to share Bush’s carries but he too is recovering from a minor knee injury he suffered in the Saints last preseason game against the San Diego Chargers.
