Josh Joffrion’s picks…..
1. New Orleans Saints
No bias here whatsoever. At this point, the Saints are the best team in the league. The combined record of the teams in the NFC and AFC Championship games last year is 1-3 with the Saints having the only win. The offense was a little shaky but Sean Payton and Drew Brees will fix that. It could be Two Dat if the defense keeps playing like it did against the Vikings.
Sure they lost, but they go 12-4 almost every year. Peyton Manning will have them back to their winning ways ASAP. The defense lost safety Bob Sanders again but they should be used to that before.
A questionable defense keeps them at #3, however the offense is as strong as ever with Tom Brady and Randy Moss healthy. Pats running back Lawrence Maroney was traded to Denver, not a huge loss there.
The offense, led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers is great and so is the defense, however running back Ryan Grant suffered a season ending injury in Week 1.
They didn’t have a great start, but the G-men were able to beat the Panthers in their first game in their new stadium.
Honorable Mention, Houston Texans
The Texans gained a lot of respect from around the NFL after their win over the Colts. Running back Arian Foster showed that he has what it takes to be an NFL starter.
