There will be no hold out for the Saints first round draft pick Patrick Robinson after he and the team agree to a five-year contract for an undisclosed amount just in the nick of time before the start of training camp.
He was the last of the Saints 2010 draft class to sign making this siging period for the Saints one of the more have successfull after getting all their rookies into camp on time this year.
Last years first round pick, corner back Malcolm Jenkins, missed close to three weeks of training camp and therefore was behind in his progression inside the Saints defensive system.
He was relegated mostly to special teams duty as the gunner on kick off and punt return c0verage units but was thrust into a starting role after injuries to starters Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter.
Robinson was an unlikely pick for the Saints at 32 this year but may have been the smartest since his selection brings valuable depth into the secondary and enables Jenkins to make the transition to free safety where many believe he can develop into a pro bowl talent.
Robinson played at Florida State from 2006 to 2009 posting 117 tackles with seven for a loss of 21 yards, 21 pass deflections and seven interceptions for 87 yards. His sophomore season he burst onto the scene making 6 of his 7 interceptions that year while setting new school record for consecutive interceptions in consecutive games with five.
After that 2007 season teams stopped throwing his way for fear on interceptions so for the next two seasons he essentially locked down the right side of the secondary for the Seminoles.
Robinson was one of the top prospects at corner in the 2010 draft after performing well at the combine posting a 4.46 forty time, 1.50 ten yard split, 2.53 twenty yard split, 6.78 three cone and a 39 inch vertical leap.
He is expected to push Randall Gay for the top nickel corner spot for the upcoming season and his addition only improves on one of the leagues best young secondaries.

I still believe that Terrance Cody or Sergio Kindle should have been selected instead. We are a lot weaker at LB than in the secondary!
