The New Orleans Saints have finally signed one of their draft picks.

They have signed Al Woods, their fourth round draft pick, to a  deal.  Details of the contract were not released.

The 6’4″ 307 pound DT recorded 33 tackles, 2 passes defensed, a sack, and a blocked field goal in 13 games as a starter for the Bayou Bengals.

The Saints really needed a good run-stuffer in order to prevent the big gains they gave up early in games last season.   Al Woods gives them a big body to clog up the line of scrimmage and allow the linebackers and rest of the defensive line to make plays.

Hopefully, the team will be able to sign the rest of their draft picks prior to the beginning of training camp so that the rookies can get proper reps and be in the best position to succeed in the regular season.

The Saints are definately one step closer to that goal.
