AUTHOR: | IN: News, Saints, Team Signings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Corner back Danny Gorrer was re-claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Rams today and will join the Saints just in time for their upcoming training camp July 29th. Gorrer was signed last season as undrafted rookier free agent out of Texas A&M by the Saints. He spent the entire off-season with the team faring well but was signed to the practice squad before the start of the 2009-2010 season He was then signed by the Rams off the Saints practice squad in November of last year. Gorrer made his first NFL start the following month when the Rams played the [...]

Analyzing the NFC South-Atlanta Falcons Edition

AUTHOR: | IN: Editorial, Off Topic/Other | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

In this series of four articles I will analyze the the top 5 game changing moves that each NFC South team has made to date and how it will affect their chances at a Super Bowl run.  Keep in mind, however, that I truly am a Saints fan; but I am just reporting the facts objectively and placing each team on an equal playing field. We will start with the Dirty Birds. Last season the Atlanta Falcons were hoping for Matt Ryan to have a whale of a season to complement the run game, which was led by Michael Turner. [...]

New Orleans Saints (Backup) Quarterback Controversy

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors, Saints, training camp, Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 12 Comments

One of the most unpredictable position battles in this year’s training camp will be for the backup quarterback slot. While it is obvious that Drew Brees will hold down the starting job, Saints fans are wondering who will spend the year holding down the clipboard (and field goals). Let’s take a look at the three most likely candidates. 1. Chase Daniel (The Front-Runner): Daniel has been impressive throughout the off-season workouts. Earning praise from both Head Coach Sean Payton and Starting Quarterback/Mentor Drew Brees. Daniel is gunning for the number two spot so lets break down what he brings to the position. Pros –   [...]

New Orleans Saints: Week In Review Link Dump 6.27.10

AUTHOR: | IN: Link Dump, Off Topic/Other, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s a slow time for the NFL and a slow time for the Saints. The team is currently on summer break  and won’t be back together officially until training camp starts July 29th — news is thin. Former star wide receiver Joe Horn took a page from Deuce McAllisterand signed with team for one day so he could announce his retirement from professional football. Thereis no telling what the future holds for Horn but maybe like so many players before him can land with a network as an NFL analyst. The possibility exists that Horn could also be a Hall [...]

New Orleans Saints: Favre To Return Just For A Shot At Beating The Saints?

AUTHOR: | IN: Off Topic/Other, Rumors, Saints | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

Quarterback Brett Favre is a man stuck in limbo, he just cant make up his mind rather to retire from professional football or not. In fact Favre has flip flopped so many times on whether to retire or not that his former team the Green Bay Packers, where he had spent 16 seasons, cut him loose in a trade with the New York Jets prior to the start of the 2008 season. He of course would go on to have a pretty decent season that year piloting the Jets to an 8-3 record and even throwing 6 touchdown passes in a game against the Cardinals, [...]

Why the New Orleans Saints Will Repeat as Super Bowl Champs

AUTHOR: | IN: Drew Brees, Editorial, Saints | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Here we are, in the dead of the off-season, waiting for September 9th to come our way so the Saints can start a new conquest to win the Superbowl. Except this time, it’s different.  The Saints are entering the new season at the top of the league, as defending Superbowl champs, rather than as the bottom-feeders they are so accustomed to being.   Many sports analysts are writing the Saints off for the 2010 season because of the alleged Superbowl hangover.  For justification all you have to do is look at last year’s Steelers after they went 9-7 and failed [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Saints, Team Signings, Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

After eleven seasons in the NFL Joe “Hollywoood” Horn has retired as a member of the New Orleans Saints today after being signed to a one-day contract. Horn’s desire to retire as a Saint comes as no surprise given the fact he found his greatest success there becoming one of the most popular Saint players of all time. Also Horn expressed his desire to retire with the team during his induction into the Saints Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed to him in his first year of eligibility. Horn played with the Saints from 2000 through 2006 making four consecutive [...]
