New Orleans Saints: CB Mike McKenzie Returns

Posted by: Keith Null

Mike McKenzieThe New Orleans Saints have not made an official announcement but Adam Schefter from NFL network is reporting the team has re-signed former starting corner backĀ  Mike McKenzie in a effort to boost the depth of the injury plagued secondary.

McKenzie was released by the Saints after his second knee injury in as many years, the most recent of which was a fractured knee cap suffered in November of the 2008 season.

With injuries to starting corners Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter the team has been scrambling for suitable replacements which ended in the Saints signing veteran corner Chris McAlister and now McKenzie.

In last weeks game against the Buccaneers backup corners Randall Gay and Leigh Torrence both were injured, Gay suffered a hamstring injury and Torrence a separated shoulder, further accelerating the need for re-enforcements.

McKenzie joined the Saints in 2004 and has started in 62 games recording 166 tackles, 41 pass defections, 12 interceptions and one forced fumble.
