Dan Morgan Retires
In a surprising move, LB Dan Morgan retired today before even playing a snap as a Saint.
“When we signed Dan, he was committed to making a fresh start, and he was making every effort to rehabilitate the leg injury that he suffered last year,” Coach Sean Payton said in the team’s statement. “But it wasn’t responding as well as he had hoped it would. We wish him well in his continued recovery, and he will be remembered for the excellent player he was during his career.”
That is rough for Morgan. He was a solid player during his time with the Panthers and you hope he got out in time before the concussions and injuries affected him any worse. From a football stand point, the Saints still have last year’s starter, Scott Shanle, who Morgan was supposed to challenge. It’s a shame he couldn’t play a down for the team but you hope he is healthy.
